Qatar National Broadband Network (Qnbn), the enabler of high-speed broadband communication, is taking part in the third annual edition of the information and communication technology conference and exhibition, QITCOM 2014, on 26-28 May 2014 at the Qatar National Convention Center (QNCC).
The three-day event is expected to feature a conference, exhibition, and awards ceremony, and brings together government officials, businesses, industry leaders and consumers through their shared enthusiasm for ICT and the growth potential of Qatar’s ICT sector.
Mohammed Al-Mannai, CEO at Qnbn commented, “According to the ‘Networked Readiness Index’ report commissioned by the World Economic Forum, Qatar ranks the highest among Arab nations. This shift towards a digital knowledge economy is creating greater opportunities for businesses and citizens alike. As such, Qnbn fiber optic broadband infrastructure is critical to ensuring sustainable national growth.”
As part of the official Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) pavilion, Qnbn will share its world-class broadband expertise and highlight the many transformational benefits high-speed broadband brings to businesses and residential users alike.
“Taking part in QITCOM gives us the opportunity to join other officials, businesses and industry players to discuss ways to further accelerate the growth of the ICT ecosystem in Qatar. We look forward to this opportunity,” he added.
Qnbn was established by the former Supreme Council of Information and Communication Technology (currently known as MICT) with a government mandate to deploy nationwide high-speed fiber optic broadband infrastructure to enable a knowledge-based economy. As such, Qnbn’s network infrastructure supports the latest applications, services and content, whilst providing customers with choice in selecting service providers for faster, next-generation telecommunication services.
