Dr. Eng. Ahmed Salman Ali Al-Sulaiti
Chief Executive Officer
Dr. Eng. Ahmed Salman Al-Sulaiti is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at Qatar National Broadband Network (Qnbn) and one of the foremost Qatari industry professionals shaping the ambitious digitization agenda of the country. With rich local experience in the telecom sector, Al-Sulaiti ensures that Qnbn is delivering an innovative state-of-the-art broadband network.
Al-Sulaiti brings massive experience and technical skills to Qnbn, matched by management and leadership qualities. As CEO, he spearheads the operations in building Qatar’s next generation national fiber-optics infrastructure. Prior to establishing Qnbn, Al-Sulaiti was the Manager of National Broadband Network at ictQATAR.
Previously, Al-Sulaiti was Senior Manager of the Customer Service Continuous Improvement Department at Qatar Telecom (Ooredoo). Al-Sulaiti was also Head of Improvement Department at Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation. During 12-year tenure, he was instrumental in building and managing the end-to-end fiber-optics infrastructure where he had a leading role in implementing the biggest fiber optic network in Qatar amounting to 6000KM of fiber, reaching remote areas and extending the fiber optic footprint in the country. He also helped establish 3 state of the art control centers; namely the National Power Control Center, Power Distribution Center and Water Control Center. He was honored with the award of Certificate and Medal for leading the transition of the Electricity National Network from analogue to digital.
Al-Sulaiti holds a Doctorate of Administration, a Master’s Degree in Business Research, and a Master of Business Administration from Swiss Business School (SBS) in Zurich, Switzerland. His doctorate thesis is titled ‘Empowerment and Performance – A model of deciphering managers and employee empowerment in project management for Qatar Vision 2030 during the era of globalization’. Al-Sulaiti also holds a B.Sc. in Electrical and Telecom Engineering from Qatar University. Furthermore, he has successfully participated in many industry-leading courses from a variety of respected global institutes. Dr. Al-Sulaiti is one of the executive leaders group, groomed by Qatar Leaders Center in 2015.
Chief Legal Officer
Gariballa Ahmed Mohamed is Qnbn’s Chief Legal Officer and is accountable for legal affairs and compliance as Qnbn deploys its fiber optics network infrastructure. Mohamed is Secretary to Qnbn’s Board of Directors and sits on both the management and tender committees.
At Qnbn he provided extensive legal support during the formation of the corporate business plan and established the legal advisory function to support the commercial and regulatory aspects of the business. Under his leadership, his team manages the full range of legal functions in line with the applicable legal and regulatory regimes.
Mohamed has more than 20 years of professional experience in the legal field from previous roles at the Attorney General’s Chambers, Omantel and Etisalat where he helped to create the legal framework for the largest satellite communications organisation in the Middle East. He was also a key member of the team responsible for the privatization of The Sultanate of Oman’s Telecom Sector.
Specializing in Telecom, Corporate, Commercial and International law, he holds Masters degrees from the United States and Canada with a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Khartoum.
