HE. Eng. Essa Bin Hilal AL-Kuwari

Chairman

H.E. Eng. Essa Bin Hilal Al-Kuwari is the President of the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA). He has been leading the corporation through a successful journey and expansion since 2011. Al-Kuwari has held board director or membership roles in many of the top-listed companies in the country, including the leading natural gas transporter company (NAKILAT) and the leading telecommunication company Ooredoo, to name a few. Besides the above, H.E. Al-Kuwari is a member of several high-level local committees such as the Permanent National Emergency Committee and the Permanent Water Resources Committee in Qatar. He also represents the State in several regional and international entities related to the Electricity and Water Sectors, such as his membership on the Board of Trustees of the Arab Water Council, in addition to being a member of the Board of Directors of the Gulf Cooperation Council for Electricity Interconnection Authority (GCCIA). H.E. Eng. Al-Kuwari previously led the Arab Union of Electricity through unprecedented achievements as a board Chairman for six years. In addition, His Excellency has made many contributions to the academic sector in the State of Qatar. He is the Chair of the Steering Committee of Texas A&M Qatar Smart Grid Center; Vice Chairman of Hamad bin Khalifa University’s Board of Trustees; and a Member of the Advisory Council for the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Economics at Qatar University. H.E. AlKuwari holds a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Qatar University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Hull University, United Kingdom.

Mr. Mohammed Ahmed AlHardan

Vice Chairman

Mohammed Al-Hardan is currently the Head of Technology, Media and Telcom Investments for QIA globally. In his current role Mohammed is responsible for investments across Software & Services, Internet & Media and the Semiconductor, Hardware, and Communications sectors. Since joining QIA in 2009 Mohammed worked and held various roles across the direct and indirect investment teams which included the Funds Investment Department and the Infrastructure Investments Department. Mohammed currently represents QIA on the board of Es’hailSat, Qatar National Broadband Network (QNBN), Gulf Bridge International (GBI), Malomatia, and the Qatar Algeria Investment Company (QAIC). Mohammed holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration from Carnegie Mellon University with a focus on Finance, Entrepreneurship & Strategy. He is also a CFA charter holder.

Mr. Fahad Abdulla Al Manna

Mr. Fahad Al-Mana is an Associate Director in QIA, which overlooks real estate investments in Asia and Africa. A Qatari National holding a degree in business Administration from Qatar University majoring in Finance and Accounting. He joined Qatar Investment Authority in 2011 and represents QIA in several companies including Katara Hospitality, QNBN, and GBI.

Ms. Mashael AL Hammadi

Through over 20 years of hard work in the field of information technology and e-government, AL-Hammadi was distinguished by a high level of knowledge and comprehensive knowledge of information technology strategies, business, local culture, technical trends, and change in the organizational structure. Al-Hammadi graduated from the Qatar Leadership Program in 2015, and HEC- CTO Program in 2019, she has master’s degree in executive business administration and a bachelor’s in computer science from the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Studies, and currently affiliated with a PhD. During her career, she held various leadership positions in information technology departments in various government agencies and accomplished several strategic projects in the country, including Ministry of Civil Service and Housing, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, and Ministry of Economy and Trade. She currently hold the position of Assistant under Secretary for digital government affairs in the Ministry of Communications and information technology

Dr. Hassan Yousuf AlDarbesti

Dr. Hassan Al-Darbesti currently holds the Executive Director of International Cooperation position at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Qatar. In this role, he is at the forefront of molding international partnerships and strategic alliances. With a distinguished Ph.D. in Strategy and Innovation from ETH Zurich, Switzerland, Dr. Al-Darbesti has firmly established himself as a notable figure within the professional landscape of Qatar. His strategic acumen has been prominently displayed during his tenure as the VP and Chief Information Officer at Q-Project Management. He played a pivotal role as an executive committee member overseeing a portfolio surpassing 78 billion QR.

Mr. Ahmed Rashid AlMoosafri

Mr. Ahmed is the Director of Investment at Barzan Holdings, Founder and Chairman of Maroon Capital, and has comprehensive experience in investment banking and strategic and financial advisory. Mr. Ahmed also holds various other board positions in both private and publicly listed companies. Mr. Ahmed holds a Master’s degree in Strategic Business Administration as well as a Bachelors of science in Industrial Engineering. With more than 10 years in the field of finance and investment, Mr. Ahmed is highly experienced in providing financial and strategic advice to companies, including establishing, structuring, and leading initiatives to enhance shareholder value.

Brig. Eng. Mejalli Awad Al-Mejalli

Brig. Eng. Mejalli Awad Al-Mejalli possesses a wealth of skills and expertise in organizational management and information systems. With a strong background in defining departmental structures and mandates, Mejalli excels in establishing and managing work teams. His extensive knowledge of information security best practices reflect a commitment to maintaining robust cybersecurity measures. Additionally, Mejalli has hands-on experience in formulating and overseeing organizational budgets. His proficiency in information systems management, including a profound understanding of IBM mainframe architecture, highlights his technical acumen. Furthermore, Mejalli's professional journey showcases his leadership roles, starting as a System Programmer for IBM z/OS and progressing to Head of Technical Support and Head of User Support at the Information Systems Department of the Ministry of Interior. From 2014 to 2019, he served as the Director of Administrative Affairs at the General Directorate of Information Systems. Since 2019, Mejalli has held the position of Assistant Director of the Telecommunications Department at the Ministry of Interior, and as of May 2023, he assumed the role of Director of the Telecommunications Department Mejalli's educational background includes a B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Qatar,

Mr. Abdulla Al-Marri

Mr. Al-Marri is currently a Portfolio Manager within the Active Equities (AE) team at Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), covering public equities focusing on the Telecommunication, Media and Technology (TMT) sector globally. He is directly responsible for public investments made within the Semiconductor, Hardware and Telecommunication sub-segments, where he has developed expertise over the last decade-plus. Mr. Al-Marri joined QIA in 2013 as the first national focusing on the TMT sector, where he worked on investment opportunities across asset classes and sub-sectors within the TMT Investment team prior to moving to the AE team in 2022 to lead the Semiconductor, Hardware and Telecommunication sub-sector. Mr. Al-Marri is also a member of the Board of Directors at Gulf Bridge International (GBI), a leading privately held submarine cable, since 2015. Mr. Al-Marri has a Bachelor of Science (Honors) in Business Administration with concentrations in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Drexel University, which he attained with Distinction (Magna Cum Laude). He has attended several executive education courses at leading business schools (e.g. HEC, INSEAD and Wharton) on topics covering Investment Management and Finance.
